Business Ethics

Ethical business practices are essential to all organizations' success. Learn to identify ethical dilemmas in business and develop a decision-making process to manage them.

 

Objectives:

¨             Define business ethics, balance personal values and organizational ethics, and follow a process for making good decisions when ethical dilemmas arise.

¨             Identify criteria for whistle blowing, the risks associated with it, and when and how to blow the whistle.

¨             Identify the characteristics of ethical management, handle common human resource issues, and address ethical dilemmas raised by subordinates.

¨             Recognize and prevent unethical behavior, conduct an intervention meeting, and promote ethical behavior in the workplace.

¨             Identify the types of ethical issues that arise in various functional areas, promote and maintain ethical principles, develop a corporate code of ethics, execute an internal audit, and identify and balance corporate social responsibilities.

 

 

Business Problem Solving

You will learn about the need for problem solving, the ineffective responses to problems, and the elements of an effective solution. This course provides a description of the skills that effective problem solvers possess.  By applying the information in this program, students will be able to avoid inappropriate responses to problems, identify types of problem solvers, and overcome barriers to problem solving.  This course covers the three phases of the problem-solving process and how to complete each phase.  Students will be able to identify a problem's root causes, develop and implement an effective solution, and track the success of your solution. Additionally, this course provides students with processes and guidelines for both quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. Students will learn about the responsibilities of a problem-solving team leader and how to manage a problem-solving team meeting. Students will know their responsibilities as a team leader, be able to conduct an effective team meeting, motivate team members, and communicate effectively.

Objectives:

¨             Handle an interview by developing an understanding of the various types of candidates, conduct an interview by following a specific structure, and use effective communication techniques when interviewing.

¨             Identify the types of bias, the steps involved in evaluating a candidate, and several criteria for ranking candidates.

¨             List the provisions outlined by EEO and identify appropriate and inappropriate questions, including those that are not permissible according to the law.

¨             Define disability; identify the questions that are prohibited by the ADA, hire prospective employees legally under the Immigration Reform and Control Act, and use Form I-9.

 

 

Organizational Behavior

Learn how to identify the ways in which power and politics are used in an organization, and the impact of leadership on organizational behavior. Learn about organizational behavior and how individual, group and, organizational structures affect organizational behavior.

¨             Identify the fundamentals of organizational behavior, the types of communication and power in an organization, and examine how they affect organizational behavior.
